Two motorists were arrested at a La Mirada DUI/license checkpoint and cited for allegedly driving without a valid driver’s license, sheriff’s department officials said Monday.
Norwalk Station deputies conducted the checkpoint Friday night, targeting impaired and/or unlicensed drivers on Santa Gertudes Avenue north of Silvergrove Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s officials said checkpoint locations are determined based on previously reported incidents of crashes stemming from impaired driving.
“The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads,” according to a sheriff’s statement.
