A man who climbed the KTLA tower in Hollywood Tuesday evening came down safely on his own after a more than three-hour standoff and was arrested.
The Los Angeles Fire Department received reports around 6:32 p.m. about a person climbing the tower at 5800 Sunset Blvd., KTLA reported.
The man was seen sitting about 30 feet up the tower and straddling the KTLA marquee while holding a sign that read, “Free Billie Eilish.” The handwritten sign had a message on the back saying, “MK Ultra sex slaves Donald Marshall clones.”
The man was witnessed playing an electric guitar at one point, KTLA reported.
A large inflatable airbag was positioned below the tower as crews tried to remove the man safely. He appeared uncooperative and at one point, told officers he would come down in 20 minutes, but remained on the tower for over three hours, according to KTLA.
The man was taken into custody at around 9:50 p.m., police said.
