A Los Angeles Fire Department helicopter hoisted a 42-year-old mountain bike rider to safety Saturday after he tumbled down a steep hillside and became stranded near the La Tuna Canyon Trail in Shadow Hills.

The fall was reported at 4:37 p.m., according to the LAFD’s Brian Humphrey.

The hovering chopper lowered a flight paramedic to asses the man and prepare him to be hoisted aboard, Humphrey said.

The man was exhausted but not injured and was taken to a helispot to be offered shade, fluids and to be reunited with his mountain bike, he said.
