Orange County law enforcement scrambled Friday to respond to threats made on social media against schools that were ultimately deemed not credible.

The social media posts were made Thursday “all over Southern California and even out of state in Florida,” said Orange County sheriff’s Sgt. Frank Gonzalez. “We deemed them not credible.”

Still, sheriff’s deputies detailed more staff to local campuses just in case, Gonzalez said.

The social media threats pointed to Orange County, so it wasn’t clear if they were meant for California or Florida, Gonzalez said.

No specific schools were noted in the posts, the sergeant said.
