Monterey Park City Hall will reopen its doors Wednesday after being forced to close Tuesday due to an exterior gas leak.

According to a statement from the City of Monterey Park, the building is safe for reentry, and regular business hours will resume Wednesday, with the building open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Monterey Park Police Department announced the closure of the building at 320 Newmark Ave. shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, but it was unclear when the leak was detected. The building was closed for the rest of the day.

There was no immediate danger to the public, according to a city statement. However, authorities advised the public to avoid the area until the leak was repaired.
