A fire at a one-story metal processing shop in Pacoima was knocked down Tuesday.
Firefighters responded at around 3:30 a.m. to the 50-by120-foot commercial building at 13717 W. Desmond St. just, north of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway where they encountered flames shooting through the roof. The business owner was on site and warned responders that there were corrosive liquids inside the metal shop, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
It took 83 firefighters 45 minutes to extinguish the flames.
LAFD Hazardous Materials specialists also were called to the scene and Los Angles County Health Hazmat has been notified, Prange said. No injuries were reported.
