Sprinklers quickly doused a fire in Dan Black Hall on the Cal State Fullerton campus Tuesday morning.

The fire alarm was tripped at 8:15 a.m., summoning firefighters to the research hall, Cal State Fullerton police Capt. Scot Willey said.

The hall contains laboratories where research is done, so the response to fires there is “a little bit more amplified,” Willey said.

“Officers smelled smoke on the second floor, which came on in one of the rooms, but the fire suppression system put it out immediately,” Willey said.

No one was injured and “the few people in that building got out safely,” Willey said.

The cause was under investigation.
