Firefighters rescued a bicyclist who broke an ankle in the San Gabriel Mountain foothills Sunday.
The 47-year-old man’s injury was reported at around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, who said he suffered a severe ankle fracture when he fell from a remote section of the Haines Canyon Motorway.
LAFD flight paramedics were lowered from a hovering rescue helicopter to medically assess and stabilize the man. Flight paramedics were also preparing for in-flight treatment as they rushed the man to a hospital.
