A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a cell phone at knifepoint in Culver City, police said Monday.
The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested Friday near La Ballona Creek, police said. He was booked on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
The crime occurred about 9:15 a.m. May 25 near the 5100 block of Cota Street, where officers responded to a report of a person who was injured and bleeding, according to the Culver City Police Department.
“Officers met with the victim, who advised them that he was walking on Cota Street when he was approached by the suspect,” police said. “The suspect was armed with a knife and attempted to stab the victim. The victim put his hand out to protect himself from the stabbing and received a laceration to his hand.”
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene for an injury described as non-life-threatening.
The suspect took the victim’s Samsung cell phone and fled on a bicycle, police said.
