A man, his wife and their 19-year-old son were hit by a car Wednesday while they were on a sidewalk on La Cienega Boulevard, just north of Pico Boulevard.
The 48-year-old woman and 51-year-old man were seriously injured while their son was in fair condition, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department. All three were taken to a hospital.
LAFD paramedics also treated the car’s driver, who declined to be taken to a hospital, Prange said.
The car came around the corner too fast, jumped the sidewalk, struck the family, then crashed into a Chase bank, a sergeant at the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division told KCAL, which was the first to report of the relationship between the victims.
It is not believed drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, the sergeant told KCAL, adding police are trying to overcome a bit of a language barrier in an attempt to get more information from the driver.
The crash occurred around 5:25 p.m, Prange said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
