Sprinklers put out what firefighters described as a small fire in a Van Nuys store Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported a 4:55 p.m. at 14920 W. Raymer St., just east of Woodman Avenue, said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.

“Firefighters responded to a department store with a small fire inside, held in check by sprinklers,” Prange said. “Firefighters extinguished the remaining flames and are now working to shut off the sprinkler flow and evacuate smoke from the structure.”

A Target store is at that address, according to Google.

Firefighters were searching the building to make sure no customers or employees remained inside and that there were no medical needs, Prange said.

No injuries were reported.
