A man killed when he lost control of his scooter and slammed into a light pole in Riverside was identified Friday.

Christopher Medina, 30, of Moreno Valley was fatally injured about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on Alessandro Boulevard, just north of Glenhaven Avenue, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Sgt. James Elliott said that Medina was riding his Vitacci scooter northbound on Alessandro when he skidded off of the six-lane corridor and struck the light standard.

Paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

It was not immediately known whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, according to Elliott.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the police department’s Traffic Bureau at 951-826-8723.
