A 36-year-old man was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle Monday evening in Wilmington as he possibly ignited fireworks, authorities said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics reported to the 700 block of North Fries Avenue, near West G Street, shortly after 9:10 p.m., according to spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The man was thrown a distance and landed partially beneath another vehicle exiting a shopping center, but was not trapped., Humphrey said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Humphrey said.
No other injuries were reported.
