Mead Valley Fire - OnScene.TV

A brush fire that erupted Tuesday in Mead Valley scorched roughly 10 acres and damaged structures before it was stopped.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 12:40 p.m. in the area of Rider Street and Seaton Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine and hand crews — numbering almost 100 personnel — were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a swift rate through heavy vegetation.

The brusher damaged or destroyed several outbuildings and vehicles as firefighters attempted to establish tentative containment lines with the aid of two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter.

At 2 p.m., the fire’s forward rate of spread was stopped.

Full containment was expected by late afternoon.

There was no word on what might have triggered the blaze.
