A brush fire that erupted Friday in the Lakeview area scorched roughly 30 acres and reportedly caused an injury before crews began establishing lines around it.

The blaze was reported about 3:25 p.m. in the area of Jack Rabbit Trail and Gilman Springs Road, just east of Mystic Lake and about halfway between Moreno Valley and San Jacinto, according to the California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving rapidly through a field.

An ambulance was sent to treat a civilian, who was reportedly burned, possibly at the point where the blaze started, which may have been a vehicle, according to reports from the scene.

CHP officers and sheriff’s deputies were diverting northbound vehicles away from Gilman Springs and onto Bridge Street for public safety, the CHP said.
