A man who jumped into the lake at Magic Johnson Park in the Willowbrook where swimming is prohibited drowned Monday.
Firefighters and a dive team were sent at 12:39 p.m. to the park in the 900 block of East El Segundo Boulevard, near Avalon Boulevard, at 12:39 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The man was pulled from the lake in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after 2:22 p.m., according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.
It’s unclear what caused to man to jump into the lake.
The man’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Authorities are conducting an investigation.
