A 16-year-old boy was killed and a 2-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting at Petit Park in Granada Hills, police said Thursday.
Devonshire Area officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday in the park in the 10600 block of Petit Avenue, near Chatsworth Street, regarding a shots fired call and upon their arrival found the older victim lying on the paved walkway inside the park near the playground with a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
The boy’s name was being withheld pending next of kin notifications.
The 2-year-old boy was observed lying on the ground near the playground with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
There is no suspect information.
KCAL reported police think the shooting might be gang-related but the LAPD could not immediately confirm that.
