Los Angeles County and Angeles National Forest fire crews were working Monday to extinguish a roughly three-acre brush fire near Santa Clarita.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, fire crews responded near the 27000 block of Oak Spring Canyon Road at around 3:30 p.m. to a report about a brush fire.
Crews on the scene initially reported the fire was burning in flashy fuels at a rapid rate, but a short time later they reported making good progress slowing the flames. Crews were working on the ground and from the air to douse the blaze, which was dubbed the Sand Fire. Helicopter crews were picking up water from the nearby Sand Canyon Country Club.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
