Firefighters sent to the two-story building in the 1200 block of North Lyman Place at 6:22 a.m. extinguished the flames in 17 minutes, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“After extinguishing the flames, firefighters performed another more thorough search and found one patient inside the first floor of the structure, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition,” Prange said in a statement.
