A grass fire that broke out Friday on the east end of Jurupa Valley adjacent to the Pomona (60) Freeway was contained to under a half-acre.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:50 p.m. Friday in the area of Hall Avenue and Wallace Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate through dry grass in an open field.

Firefighters quickly encircled the blaze, halting its forward rate of spread shortly after 1 p.m. It was completely contained by 1:20 p.m., according to officials at the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
