A convenience store in Moreno Valley was held up Friday by a man who was able to elude sheriff’s deputies, fleeing the location on foot.
The robbery occurred about 4 a.m. in the 24000 block of JFK Drive, near Heacock Street, a short distance from the east entrance to March Air Reserve Base, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Brian Burgin said that the bandit walked into the store and leveled a handgun at the lone clerk, demanding that he empty the cash register, which he did.
The suspect ran eastbound on JFK with an undisclosed amount of money, Burgin said.
The clerk wasn’t injured.
Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the robber.
“The suspect is … considered armed and dangerous,” Burgin said.
The man was described as Black, 20-30 years old, about 6 feet tall with an athletic build, wearing dark-colored clothing, including a hoodie, white sneakers and a black surgical mask covering his face.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Moreno Valley station at 951-486-6700.
