A woman suspected of hitting a security guard at a Hollywood grocery store with a fire extinguisher Monday was shot by the guard.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she was undergoing surgery, police said.
The assault in the 5400 block of Hollywood Boulevard, near Western Avenue, occurred around 3 p.m., police said.
