A bicyclist was killed Tuesday when he was hit by a car at a Moreno Valley intersection.
The fatality occurred about 5:20 a.m. on the eastbound side of Alessandro Boulevard, where it intersects Graham Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Marcos Acosta said a Kia Optima impacted the rider, whose identity was not immediately released.
The circumstances were unclear. The driver, also not identified, stopped and waited for first responders.
Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics reached the location minutes later and found the bicyclist “severely injured (and) laying in the roadway,” Acosta said.
The victim was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
The Kia driver was uninjured and cooperated with deputies. The motorist was not arrested.
