A false bomb threat resulted in an abrupt halt to a Sabbath service at a Fullerton synagogue Saturday.

The service, streamed live and on demand on Facebook, was at Temple Beth Tikvah, at 1600 N. Acacia Ave. The bomb threat was received “around noon,” Fullerton police Lt. P. Gharah told City News Service. The Facebook time stamp and time on the video indicate it could have occurred as early as 11 a.m. Saturday.

A rabbi is seen abruptly leaving the pulpit about an hour into the service and the cantor was urged to leave a couple of minutes later. The temple was evacuated and the broadcast was halted.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad responded to the synagogue and determined there was no device, Gharah said.

He did not know whether the threat was received by telephone or other means.
