A dangerous high-speed chase that began in the Sylmar area Tuesday ended with the arrest of three residential burglary suspects in San Bernardino County.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the pursuit was initiated at Polk Street and Fenton Avenue at about 5:55 p.m. A black Mercedes led LAPD officers on a pursuit on eastbound Interstate 210, sometimes driving erratically and reaching speeds of over 70 mph.

The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit in the Ontario area. At one point officers attempted to end the pursuit by deploying a spike strip on eastbound I-210, but were unsuccessful.

The vehicle was eventually halted at around 7 p.m. in Muscoy, a census-designated place in San Bernardino County, when a CHP vehicle employed a PIT maneuver, ramming the Mercedes and forcing the car to spin around 180 degrees and come to a stop on a surface street.

Three suspects were taken into custody without further incident.

No further information was immediately available.
