Five vehicle became stranded Sunday in rising waters in an intersection in the Sun Valley area of Los Angeles, including one person who required help getting out.

The vehicles were stranded in high water at 7:34 p.m. at 11949 W. Sherman Way, at Hershey Drive, said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.

“Firefighters assisted one person with escaping from their vehicle,” Prange said. “Thankfully, no one was injured.”

“This is a good reminder to avoid driving through flooded areas, as you cannot see what is under the surface of the water, and moving water can sweep a vehicle away,” Prange said.
