A two-vehicle crash in West Los Angeles Saturday trapped a person in each vehicle, then sent both to a trauma center, where they died.

The crash happened at 5:58 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard, at Ohio Avenue, said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey. The location is next to the Bad News Bears Field.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free both patients for transport to a regional trauma center, Humphrey said.

The passenger in one vehicle and the driver of the other were pronounced dead, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im told City News Service.

A third patient from one of the vehicles, who was not trapped, was hospitalized in serious condition, Humphrey said.

Two good Samaritans who tried to free the trapped patients before firefighters arrived suffered minor injuries but declined treatment, he said.

Sepulveda Boulevard was closed between Ohio and Massachusetts avenues for the Los Angeles Police Department investigation, he said.
