Firefighters rescued a man from a Winnetka flood control channel Saturday.
The man appeared to have fallen or jumped at least 15 feet from a bridge into the flood control channel below, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Nicholas Prange.
Firefighters used ropes to secure the conscious man to a litter basket, which they lashed to a ladder. The man, whose identity was not available, was then passed along a line of firefighters over challenging terrain in a rescue technique known as a moving ladder slide.
The man was safely returned to street level, where he was transported to a trauma center in serious condition.
