Dozens of rowdy teens gathered at Lakewood Center Mall Saturday evening, leading sheriff’s deputies headquartered nearby to call for help from other areas to shut down the area and send them away.
There were about 60 teens in the crowd, according to Lt. J. Argueta of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.
The exact time the disturbance started was not clear. A call for service there was issued at about 8:50 p.m. Saturday at the mall at Lakewood Boulevard and Candlewood Street but other reports put the time at about 8 p.m.
KCAL video taken from over the scene about 9 p.m. showed the mall deserted except for multiple sheriff’s patrol cars.
The teens reportedly climbed on cars and lit fireworks, according to the Orange County Register.
