Police asked for the public’s help Sunday to find whoever is responsible for killing a man who was shot to death while he was sitting in a vehicle in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles.

Officers responded to a “shots fired” call at 51st Place and Denker Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

They found the victim seated in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the suspect fled in a dark, four-door sedan. No description of the suspect was available, and the motive for the shooting was unclear.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call homicide detectives at the LAPD’s South Bureau at 323-786-511. After hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-527-3247. Those wishing to remain anonymous can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
