A brush fire erupted Tuesday on a hillside in Good Hope, rapidly scorching close to 15 acres but not immediately threatening homes or other structures.
The blaze was reported about 2:10 p.m. in the area of Sharp Road and Highway 74 in the unincorporated community, which is just southwest of Perris, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location, but lack of roads or wide trails going into the hills hamstrung them as the flames moved upslope.
Cal Fire aircraft were summoned, and as of 2:35 p.m., air tankers were just arriving, according to reports from the scene.
The blaze was not threatening residences, and no evacuation warnings appeared imminent.
A battalion chief at the scene requested a Cal Fire prevention officer, indicating the blaze may have been intentionally set.
