A 52-year-old man was arrested Friday on suspicion of arson in Laguna Beach.

According to Laguna Beach Fire Department Fire Chief Niko King, firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority and the Laguna Beach Fire Department responded to the 31700 block of Coast Highway at an unspecified time on Friday to a report of a structure fire at the South Coast Water District building.

The Laguna Beach Police Department also responded and discovered a storage shed fully engulfed in flames, King said. The blaze was quickly extinguished.

A short time later, a man received treatment at a nearby hospital for fire-related injuries. He was identified as Andrew Bell. His city of residence was not disclosed.

A preliminary investigation led authorities to believe that Bell started the fires, and he was arrested on suspicion of arson.

Anyone with information regarding the fire was urged to contact Investigator Schulenburg at 949-416-9163 or aschulenburg@lagunabeachcity.net.
