One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Palmdale and deputies Thursday are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
According to the Palmdale Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred at 9:04 p.m. Wednesday on Palmdale Boulevard.
Deputies responded to the scene and during the course of their investigation learned one vehicle was traveling east on the boulevard and the second vehicle was traveling west when the driver of the first vehicle swerved into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with the front of the westbound vehicle.
The victim, a passenger in the second vehicle, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said.
The driver of the first vehicle was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Palmdale Boulevard was closed between 70th Street East. and 80th Street East while deputies conducted their investigation.
