A 38-year-old man who was struck by a hit-and-run motorist in South Los Angeles remained in a coma Friday, and police asked for the public’s help finding the driver.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Daniel Pineda Jr. was struck around 12:50 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Flower Street. Police said Pineda was crossing Flower Street from west to east when he was struck by a black Mercedes-Benz sedan that was traveling south on Flower.
The driver continued driving without stopping, police said.
Paramedics took Pineda to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and remains in a coma.
The city of Los Angeles has a standing $25,000 reward offer for information leading to perpetrators of non-fatal hit-and-run crashes.
