A man was fatally struck while crossing a street in the Compton area Saturday evening and the vehicle that hit him fled the scene.
The crash occurred at 7:28 p.m. at Rosecrans Avenue at Avalon Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer Stephen Brandt told City News Service.
The victim, whose identify was withheld, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A description of the vehicle was not immediately available.
