Los Angeles Rams cornerback Derion Kendrick was arrested early Monday for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon.

Los Angeles County jail records show Kendrick, 23, was arrested by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division shortly after 2 a.m., roughly 10 hours after the Rams’ 26-9 victory over the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium.

Kendrick was booked and released hours later, according to jail records.

TMZ reported that Kendrick was pulled over in a traffic stop, and police allegedly found a concealed weapon in his vehicle. CBS 2 reported police also found marijuana in Kendrick’s car.

Rams coach Sean McVay acknowledged the arrest while speaking to reporters Monday but said he could not comment extensively while the team gathers more information.

“I (don’t) want to be quick to pass judgment before I know everything,” McVay said. during a video conference with reporters, “and so I care about these guys a whole lot. I want to continue to help them make all the right decisions and try to avoid situations like this.

“But I also know that life isn’t perfect. I’ve certainly made my mistakes, and how can we continuously educate guys on how to avoid these and then also understand all the layers that are involved in a situation like this before kind of dive deep into having an opinion and passing judgment.”

Kendrick was arrested in March 2021 in his hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina after police found him asleep in a car with a gun on his lap, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Kendrick completed a pretrial intervention program that resulted in the charges being expunged, according to The Times.

Kendrick was selected by the Rams in the sixth round of the 2022 draft and has started all six of their games this season.
