A 32-year-old motorist was killed in San Jacinto when his SUV plowed into the rear of a minivan, causing the SUV to overturn in a field, authorities said Friday.
Luis Ramirez was fatally injured about 10:30 p.m. Thursday on the Ramona Expressway, just west of Warren Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Patrick Lynch said Ramirez was going eastbound on the expressway in his SUV, traveling “at a high rate of speed,” when he encountered a minivan just ahead of him.
The SUV impacted the rear of the other vehicle, causing both to veer off of the roadway, Lynch said.
He said the SUV rolled at least once along the shoulder of the four-lane corridor, at which point Ramirez was ejected.
Paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The minivan driver was not hurt.
