Fire erupted at a two-story duplex in East Hollywood Monday, but crews quickly doused the flames with no immediate reports of any injuries.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart, firefighters responded shortly after 5:35 p.m. to the building in the 900 block of North Serrano Avenue near Romaine Street and found smoke coming from a unit on the second floor.

Fire crews declared the blaze knocked down just before 6 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
