A brush fire burned through light-to-medium vegetation in the Sunland area Monday, but no injuries were reported and crews managed to halt the blaze with no structural damage.

Los Angeles Fire Department fire crews responded shortly after 2 p.m. to the fire, which was burning uphill in the 8300 block of Big Canyon Drive, and they were assisted by Los Angeles County and Angeles National Forest crews, according to LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

Crews fought the flames by ground and air, and halted the fire’s advance within an hour.

There were no reports of evacuations, although the fire initially threatened several nearby structures, Humphrey said.

It was unclear what may have sparked the fire.
