Police sought the public’s assistance Wednesday to find the driver who hit a 38-year-old man crossing a street in South Los Angeles, leaving him comatose, then fleeing.
Los Angeles resident Daniel Pineda Jr. was struck by a four-door black Mercedes-Benz at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Flower Street on Oct. 11 around 12:50 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver continued southbound on Flower Street. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took Pineda to a hospital, where he remains in a coma and critical condition.
The city of Los Angeles is offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading up to the driver’s identity, arrest and conviction.
