A fire caused significant damage to a South Los Angeles restaurant Friday and a 50-year-old man who attempted to extinguish the blaze was taken to a hospital in fair condition after sustaining burns to an arm.
Firefighters arrived at the 10900 block of South Figueroa Street around 4:54 p.m. Friday to a report of a structure fire, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
“A small restaurant had an outside cooking area where the fire started and extended into a portion of the restaurant which sustained significant damage,” Stewart said.
The fire was fully contained in 17 minutes, Stewart said.
