A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle that was driven away from the scene in Jurupa Valley, authorities said Sunday.
The crash was at 10:51 p.m. Saturday on Van Buren Boulevard north of 56th Street, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Ignacio Robles.
“The preliminary investigation revealed a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of Van Buren Boulevard, causing fatal injuries,” Robles said. “Following the collision, the vehicle fled the scene.”
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
An investigation was underway, he said.
