A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday in Long Beach, authorities said.
Officers arrived at the intersection of Seventh Street and Pepper Tree Lane around 5:05 a.m. Wednesday to a report regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police said the victim was discovered lying in the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street, west of Pepper Tree Lane. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Detectives discovered during their investigation that the victim ran northbound across the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street outside a marked crosswalk before being struck by a vehicle.
Police said the victim fell into one of the traffic lanes, where she was struck by another vehicle. Both drivers remained on the scene, pulled over after the collision and contacted 911.
Police said neither speed nor distracted or impaired driving appeared to be a factor in the deadly collision.
