Fire damaged a 1930s-era commercial building in Boyle Heights Thursday, but no injuries were reported.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart, firefighters responded around 1:40 p.m. to the 3400 block of East First Street. The fire was burning in a single-story, 40-foot-by-60-foot commercial building built in the early 1930s, Stewart said.

More than 60 firefighters extinguished the fire within 45 minutes. While no injuries were reported, city Building and Safety officials were summoned to determine if the structure is safe to occupy.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
