A man suffered serious injuries Saturday when the vehicle he was driving crashed into an MTA Purple Line train in the Crenshaw community of Los Angeles.

Firefighters were dispatched at 12:14 p.m. to the southbound track of the train line in the 4900 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The train was carrying 10 riders at the time and no injuries were reported to any of them, authorities said.

Firefighters had to extricate the driver from the vehicle. He was estimated to be about 70 years old. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital in serious condition.

No further information was immediately available.
