One person was found unconscious and two others were also injured in a head-on crash in Desert Hot Springs, police said Saturday.
The accident took place around 5:20 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Pierson Boulevard and Little Morongo Road, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.
Arriving officers found that the 73-year-old driver of a gray Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on Pierson, approaching the four-way, stop sign-controlled intersection of Little Morongo Road. At the same time, a blue Chevrolet Silverado HD occupied by a 46-year-old driver and a 46-year-old passenger was traveling east on Pierson, just east of Little Morongo Road.
According to officers, the Hyundai entered eastbound traffic and crashed with the Chevrolet head-on. The Hyundai driver was found unconscious and rushed to a hospital.
Both occupants of the Chevrolet were also taken to a hospital with complaints of pain.
Alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, according to police.
Westbound and eastbound traffic on Pierson Boulevard between Atlantic Avenue and Little Morongo was closed during the investigation, but re-opened at around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Anyone with additional information about the crash was encouraged to contact Corporal McGuire at 760-329-2904.
