A two-vehicle crash in the Harvard Park area of Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve killed one man and critically injured four people including three children, authorities said Monday.

The crash was reported at 11:21 p.m. Sunday in the 5900 block of South Normandie Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.

Firefighters working to free two people from the wreckage of one vehicle found a man, about 30 years old, dead inside, Prange said.

A 3-year-old girl also trapped was rushed to a hospital in grave condition.

A 22-year-old man driving one vehicle and two girls, ages 1 and 9 who were ejected, were all taken to hospitals by paramedics in critical condition, he said.

The circumstances of the crash were not immediately available.
