An 18-year-old man suspected of robbing a Moreno Valley resident at gunpoint, taking his personal jewelry, was behind bars Wednesday.

Angel Solis of Moreno Valley was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Tuesday on suspicion of armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon inside a vehicle and being an underage person in possession of a firearm.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Solis confronted a man, whose identity was not disclosed, in the 26600 block of Dracaea Avenue, near Morrison Street.

Solis brandished a handgun at the victim and demanded his jewelry, sheriff’s officials alleged.

The victim surrendered the property and the suspect fled, but the man took note of the getaway vehicle’s license plate and immediately provided it to 911 dispatchers, officials said.

Deputies located the car less than an hour later in the 13600 block of Stockbrook Road, about a mile from where the holdup happened, according to the sheriff’s department. Solis was detained at the location, allegedly in possession of the jewelry and gun, which was tucked away inside the vehicle, authorities said.

He was taken into custody without incident. Background information on him wasn’t available.
