A man was hospitalized Saturday after he was shot by at least one Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area of South Los Angeles.
The shooting occurred about 3:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Florence Avenue, at Hooper Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and paramedics took him to a hospital, officials said. The man’s condition was not reported. It was unclear what he was suspected of doing and the reason he was shot.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were summoned to the scene and multiple agencies will conduct independent investigations into the shooting, officials said.
