Firefighters worked Saturday evening to put out a fire in a two-story commercial building in San Pedro.

The fire was reported at 6:33 p.m. Saturday at 719 S. Pacific Ave., just south of Seventh Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.

Heavy smoke was showing when firefighters arrived and they took up offensive positions on and around the building, Prange said.

“Crews made access from the rear alley where smoke was billowing out, and found heavy fire in the small second-story portion,” Prange said. “Firefighters on the roof coordinated cutting ventilation holes in the roof with interior fire attack companies deploying hose lines below.”

The flames were out at 7:14 p.m., he said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
